There's great news for parents in Tamil Nadu today! The government released the Right to Education (RTE) Admissions 2025 notification today. This was made possible after the central government finally released the pending reimbursement funds, following some pushback from the Madras High Court and Supreme Court.

New Changes in RTE Application Process

Now, all applications will be online, through the official RTE portal. This year, there's a new change children already in entry level classes can also apply under the RTE scheme. They've even set up a special 10 day online window to ensure these children can be included. Smart move, isn't it?

Key Dates for RTE Admissions 2025

Let's take a quick look at the important dates so we don't miss anything.

  • 6 October 2025: The official admission notification went live today.
  • 7 October: Schools are required to upload their data regarding how many entry level seats they have filled by September 30.
  • 8 October: Pay attention, on this day 25% of RTE seats will be identified and visible on the school's online portal.
  • 9 October: It's time to upload documents! Have all your child's documents are ready – Aadhaar card, birth certificate, address proof, income proof, community certificate and parent declaration (Govt. Order No. 66, April 7, 2017).
  • 10 to 13 October: Schools will publish eligible and non eligible lists. If your child's name is not included in the eligible list, we will explain the reason and give you a chance to submit missing papers.
  • 14 October: The final list of eligible children will be published.
  • 15 October: If a school has not filled its 25% RTE quota, eligible children will be tagged in the EMIS portal.
  • 16 October: If there are more applicants than seats, random selection will be done (children in priority categories will be admitted first). Selected names will be displayed immediately.
  • 17 October: Children selected through the random process will be tagged in the EMIS system.

Priority Groups for RTE Admissions
